Hector Ortiz, Carly Urban,  Marina Myhre,  Barbara Smith, Kim Clum  - This symposium highlights cutting-edge Federal government research on improving the financial well-being of American consumers and workers by changing their behavior. The presentations included in this symposium describe effective approaches for identifying individuals' level of financial well-being and helping them navigate the increasingly complex financial landscape. The first two presentations provide information on a financial well-being scale that can be used to compare financial well-being between people and over time. The other presentations in this symposium focus on three areas critical to improving financial well-being: helping low- and moderate-income individuals buy a house, increasing the financial sufficiency of low-income individuals, and improving workers' retirement income security.
